Latest Leaders – 2009 Regular Season

480-latestleaders-2009seaso.jpg

Latest Leaders in the MLBlogs Network by pageviews, from April 4, 2009, through October 4, 2009.

Baseball’s regular season is all about sustained excellence — showing up every day, even when the going gets tough. So we’re recognizing the MLBloggers who brought their ‘A’ games from Opening Day through the final weekend.

His team may not have made the Postseason, but Reed Johnson’s Reed Between the Lines finished on top of the Players Division. Torri Hunter was hot on his heels with Torii’s Storiis, with Ank’s Blog in third. Bengie Molina’s Behind the Mask occupies the fourth spot, with Chris “Disco” Hayes finishing fifth after developing a big audience for his humorous look into his life as a Minor League prospect.

MetsBlog.com avoided the injuries that hampered its namesake’s season to take the MLB Pro Blogs Division title. SNY blogs were well represented with Bronx Banter and Mets Minor League Blog in the next two spots. Trade Talk rode the hunger for Trade Deadline news to the fourth spot, while the YES Network’s Kimberly Jones is in the fifth spot.

The Fan Division Champion is none other than auther Jane Heller’s Confessions of a She-Fan, edging out The Happy Youngster…Brew Town’s Ballhawk for top honors. The dynamic duo at Red State Blue State come next, with Julia’s Rants and Rockpile Rant fourth and fifth, respectively.

Mark Bowman cultivated a rabid community of commenters that helped make Bowman’s Blog the top dog in the MLB.com Beat Writer Division. Todd Zolecki’s The Zo Zone was the runner-up, and Carrie Muskat’s Ramblings ending up third. Longtime MLBlogger Matthew Leach’s Obviously, You’re Not a Golfer finished a strong fourth, and another blog with a huge commenting community, Bryan Hoch’s Bombers Beat, one spot behind that.

Congratulations to everyone on the list!

It is an honor to be ranked #22 …
On the 2009 “Regular Season” Mlblogs “Fans” Leaders List” !!!
“Thank You”, for your support … And, “thanks” to all who visited my mlblog throughout the 2009 season !!!
.
“Congratulations” to all blogs, on all “Leaders Lists” !!!
.
Also, a special “Thank You” to Mark and all at Mlblogs/mlb.com, for all your work and efforts that have made MLBlogs an “awesome” baseball blogging community !!!
.
Best Wishes,

Not even making the top 60?? Granted, I didn’t write EVERY WAKING MOMENT of the season…but at least Diamond Diva made the list. So the Nats weren’t COMPLETELY ignored here…lol
I know it’s not X-Mas yet, but…my wish would be for MORE NATS MLBLOGGERS to join the two of us (Shelley and me, that is) in the fan blog department.
And if you haven’t gotten around to it, head for my Twitter page and click @nastynats/baseball…I need people to follow me!!! LMAO

I was thinking maybe a once a quarter rankings of how your Blog ranks among your category (say by team) I’d like to know who the blog “leader” for each team would be.

Congrats on all the great blogging everyone.

Thank you for looking into the post timing issues! That is a huge problem and I think that is a contributing factor to problems people have trying to leave comments on blogs.

Julia
http://werbiefitz.mlblogs.com

The comment post timings are noted and being looked at. Thanks.

Mark,

Saw you request for comments/suggestions on The Zo Zone. Two big things:

1) I don’t stay logged into mlb.com for very long, so I have to sign in everytime I want to leave a comment. Very annoying!

2) The post timings are often screwed up! I’m sure you know about this one, but often people responding to my comment will show up before mine! Very weird.

Mark, not sure where you want comments about the wish lists for changes that you mentioned to me. I don’t see any others here. In any case, speed is my #1 issue. It just takes too long to post, to leave comments, to sign in. I also don’t know why my responses to comments often appear ahead of the comments themselves in many instances, so maybe that could be corrected.

http://janeheller.mlblogs.com

Hey guys, these are all appreciated. As far as input on what you want to see in a blog going forward, note that I saved a newer entry on this blog, so please post any comments on the subject there if you can. Thanks to those who already did here. And congrats again to all of our season leader. Be sure to join me on Twitter, too. – Mark @MLB

Hi Mark,

I’ve spread your message on the request for “help” – what would I love to see? SPELL CHECK!!! Also – there needs to be a resolution to the time-stamp that is put on comments. I don’t record my videos, so that doesn’t matter to me and I do editing of my photos on my own desktop publishing software – but having a better way to manager them after I upload them to my blog for storage would be a good thing. I’ll have to be honest – I don’t have a lot of problems with movable type that we use here at MLBlogs SINCE I moved to Firefox. I had a lot of problems with movable type when I was using Internet Explorer, so if you do move to a new product for us to blog on, please make sure it is compatible across a lot of platforms. I’ll give it some more thought tonight – but that is what I can come up with off the top of my head.

Good luck, thanks for all that you do for use lowly bloggers and keep us posted about any changes/updates…etc….

Hi, every one,iPod Ripper Mac.

Mark, Have a techi question for you… recently stoppped getting email notice of comments on my blog, just trying to figure out if it’s something at mlblogs that either I changed or mlblogs changed or if it was something I did with my mail server… I guess the question is did anything change at mlblogs or could I have changed a preference for my blog?
assistance is appreciated…thanks

Whoa, Mark, that’s mighty impressive. No wonder that list took so long to come out…and it’s pretty exciting how psyched up everyone is now. Sweet idea!

Man Mark,
I remember when beating “Baseball Cleats and Shoes” in the Leaderboard was considered a writing victory.
We have grown a lot, and hopefully we can get the Professor to give some more interesting and informative lectures this off season.
I think a lot of us now credit the photographer in our photos because of your guidance and want for us to be considered more professional.
Tenure for Professor Mark!

Thanks for doing this Mark. The latest leaders list always make my day. 24th though would be Manny’s old number AHHHH! haha

Bob, http://bostonsports.mlblogs.com/

OK, wait a minute…this list is for the 2009 season rankings? The entire season? And The Diamond Diva finished 29th?? Wow…considering the gaps between my blog entries during the latter half of the season, I’m shocked! I guess people who visited my blog wondered how the heck anyone could possibly have two such opposite favorite teams as the Yankees and the Nationals. Either that, or people felt sorry for me because one of my favorites is the Nats. LOL Anyway, to those who visited my blog, thank you. Congrats to everyone on the list. And Mark, thank you for compiling these rankings.
Shelley http://diamonddiva.mlblogs.com/

Mark,
thanks for answering my questions! Glad to hear that it stays active here during the offseason. I’ll definitely check the hot stove blog. I love that stuff!
.
Congratulations to the Phillies and to all their phans.

Congratulations to everyone here. I’m quite surprised to see my humble Twins blog make it to #55 (although I’m a little skeptical about the worth of blogs like Baseball Cleats & Shoes at #40 appearing as “fans”) so this might convince me to write stuff in the off-season now! Are there going to be “Top 60″ badges for our blogs this year? Is there a prize? Do we get cookies?

Twins Limey

I am both humbled and honored to come in #2 for the 2009 regular season.

Thanks and congrats to all on a wonderful season of blogging.

“Happy”
http://thehappyyoungster.mlblogs.com/

I’m glad to be still blogging in my second season. I’m also glad to have interacted with some of the Top 60 Fan blogs listed on here. Most of these are indeed great blogs to follow written by astute and well-informed fans of this game.

Jane (Confessions…), your book has been read by a couple of my peeps (with much love, may I add) and will cross my desk shortly.

Julia (Julia’s Rants), love your awesomeness as a Red Sox Nationalist! Next year!

Mark (MLBlogosphere), your support is utterly fantastic!

Me? I’ll be happy with Top 100 Fans for another year. I won’t be shocked if that doesn’t happen. My family, friends and others who followed it (including that annoying Yankees fan from Las Vegas from my Facebook), they’re the ones that kept this site going for me in the worst of it.

Thanks and congratulations!

http://heirloom.mlblogs.com

Hi everyone!!! Thank you so much for making me #33! And to think I started my blog one day over the summer cuz I was bored. I never would have thought that people would actually read and care about my thoughts. Thanks so much, and congrats to everyone! Now, GO YANKEES!!! :)

Look!!! It’s like like this. If you’re going to implement any sort of replay in sports, utilize replay to its fullest. Get a staff, park ‘em in an office somewhere (like the War Room for hockey) and let ‘em call b.s. on (((ALL))) bunk calls so the game is made fair, OR, DON’T USE IT AT ALL!!!! You can’t say one game changing play is more critical than the other. An out is an out. If a bad call is going to result in runs and 12 more pitches that inning, then that’s how it is. Keep in mind, multimillion dollar contracts are based on the stats at days end for most pitchers. If you can replay a bad call on a tag up, then replay the call on a tag out, strike out, etc… C’mon Bud!!! Pull your head out. There is plenty to think about in your office, so let the no brainers be no brainers. 10-20-09, NYY vs. ANA (not of LA) was the absolute WORST display of officiating I’ve ever cared to see in a play-off game. So to allow a replay for only one of the MANY bad calls to be reversed (when it would be for the fourth out in the inning) is an absolute game killer and a complete shame to the game…
If I’m the commissioner of baseball right now, I stop to think about what a jip the game is for fans, agents, players and its future. What a joke of officiating at almost ALL umpire possitions…

Oh my goodness, that is soooo sweeet!!! Thank you so much to all my readers, I really appriciate it! GO PADRES!!

Emma: It stays busy here in the offseason as the Hot Stove dominates. Last offseason the top MLBlog by page view, by far, was our Hot Stove Blog. Stay tuned…first we have a lot of postseason left and hope everyone is enjoying the action and also our player blogs including http://toriihunter.mlblogs.com + http://scotteyre.mlblogs.com + http://mattkemp.mlblogs.com

Peter: Doing the same thing we do every month with Latest Leaders (see my previous posts), only this time the range was Opening Day through the last day of the regular season. Standard op procedure.

Congrats to our Season Leaders! Planning to give out Top 100 badges toward the end of this calendar year as we did last year, to replace existing ones. Also look for a lot of advances by next Opening Day in our blog platform. Keep up the great blogging!

Mark and the MLBlogs staff. Thanks for putting this list together. Man has this place grown.
Wow..Number 5 for the season?
I’m curious as to what’s in store for next season. Any hints? Props to all of you who work hard every day and can maintain a blog. We’re all fortunate to have such a great place to blog and great folk to blog with. I was lucky enough to meet several MLBloggers this season and each of them were extremely cool. Keep up the great work. Be creative and original and never be afraid to say what you really feel…D
