mlblogs_100_icon (2).gifANNOUNCEMENT (12/14/08): If you made the MLBlogs Top 100 and want the 116×38 badge here for your page, please email us here and we will reply with the embed code that you can place in your header Description text or wherever works. By popular request, we have compiled the first-ever MLBlogs Top 100
to show our 2008 traffic leaders in this community by page view. The
range is from our relaunch on Opening Day to date.
These are
separated as usual by templates, one for MLB PRO BLOGS (members of the
Major League Baseball family) and FAN MLBlogs. Congratulations to the
Top 100!

MLB PRO BLOGS

It’s no surprise
the top two MLBlogs are collaborative efforts, pooling the talents of
30 MLB.com writers for up-to-the-minute breaking news and rumors during
the two biggest periods of roster moves: the mid-season Trade Deadline and the offseason Hot Stove. Josh Rawitch’s Inside the Dodgers and Bryan Hoch’s Bombers Beat
were near the top on the strength of extremely active communities of
commenters, while Mark DeRosa takes the prize as the top-ranked player
blogger with his blog, The Pulse. As for October Gonzo, he finished 17th — respectably high for a newcomer who didn’t get much publicity. :)

FAN MLBLOGS

In an election year, it shouldn’t surprise anyone to see a politically tinged blog like Red State Blue State draw major traffic. Prince of New York
Paul Lebowitz continued to enjoy a big following with his in-depth
analysis, while another New Yorker, novelist Zoë Rice, is getting
plenty of attention for her baseball writing in Pick Me Up Some Mets. Despite coming on the scene in August, All Baseball All the Time closed very strong to finish fifth, while Big Pupi gets special mention as the only canine on the list of active Fan MLBlogs. Props to author Jane Heller for cracking the Top 10 despite joining the season late. Comment on any and all of these below, and you will automatically grow your own following.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don?t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often. It is a appreciable that you are too good to manage your blog because actual meaning of blog dies if irrelevant comments remain for long time. For good post knowledge based comments should be written so that people can learn from this blog.

Julia’s Rants are way too low on the Top 100 Fan Blogs. I’d consider at least 55-60th on the list.

I’m getting a bit disgusted with Brad Lidge consistantly “giving away” games with his current child-like talents (or lack of) in the ninth inning after the rest of the team have busted their tails the prior eight innings to win.
Don’t take me wrong,…I like Charlie Manuel,…he’s done a fantastic job here in Philly earning new respect for a team that has had a myriad of problems over the past two decades until last year. What I fail to understand is why he is so “Pro Lidge”. He was “perfect” last year,…so what,…that’s history,…back to the little league for him,…NOW!!

Congrats to all that made the list even those going down should be happy those moving up should be happier, glad to see a few Philly blogs listed….. keep it up everyone its good reading….

I hope to make the list again this year !!!!!!

Hi Mark, I’m Ellen, a regular on Ian Brownes “Brownie Points”. What is it that determines the rankings of the blogs. Is it the number of hits that the blog receives?? All of the Brownie Points Bloggers are curious regarding that. We intend to become THEE Number One Beat Writers Blog!!!! Ian deserves to have his blog up from #13…. have a good one.

April1st (my moms B-day!) You have to click on “sign out” 1st and then sign in. I had that problem too til someone clued me in

It lets me comment if I hit submit quickly.

Otherwise it gives me this message that I am not allowed to comment.

Why am I not allowed to comment?

Hi Mark! For MLB home page consideration: “Looking forward to seeing what Hendry has in store for Cubs fans on the ‘Nice’ list.”

Oh, bravissimo! I looked around the site but must have missed it. To quote my favorite book, “I looooooves free.”

I don’t think so, Kylie, at least that’s what I’ve read from other comments — people expressing joy that MLB Network is free with your cable whereas NFL Network you pay for. That’s what I’m reading. I am sure if you go to http://www.mlbnetwork.com you can get more answers.

MLB Network article*

Gosh dang, I don’t know where my brain is today.

Hey Mark, good to see the badge spreading. Looks pretty dang sweet and thanks for the embed code!
The MLB Network was great. Unfortunately, you didn’t answer my #1 question: will I have to pay extra? Comcast customer support is, so it seems, morally opposed to providing straightforward answers to the important questions and I was hoping you might know.
Kylie — http://kylie.mlblogs.com

Bally, you’re on everyone’s radar here, obviously you started late in the year. I’ve been doing the weekly Latest Leaders as well and you’ve been on those and I’m sure will be on the ones to come. I will post that list as soon as I can, and we’re all greatly appreciative of you taking your time as a player to be an active MLBlogger here. It’s a great blog…everyone be sure to keep checking out: http://collinbalester.mlblogs.com

Zoe: Added the badge to your blog at http://pickmeup.mlblogs.com

when they gonna re do this list i want to make it one day haha

Hi Mark, RE: my “buffering” comment on your MLB Network story… it was my attempt at a joke. I love my MLB.tv package, but I hate the endless stream of “buffering” interruptions. I thought it’d be funny if the MLB Network had similar issues on cable television. That joke is kind of an insider, only applicable to those who subscribe to MLB.tv. Sorry if I confused you or anyone else; I do look forward to the network… especially if there is no “buffering” involved.

Good news for Rocco Baldelli fans.
I got some inside scoop news that he visited a Cleveland Clinic recently and they discovered a misdiagnosis of his fatique syndrome. He actuallt has channelopathy, which can be cured and he can lead a regular life, which includes playing every day in the future.

Awesome news for any fans of this great ball player. You heard it here first……………

just some that already have placed the badge in their headers. if you’re doing this, it’s best to put two br tags and THEN the script I am emailing, all at the END of the Description text.

Mark, on the front page of MLBlogs.com, my link under the leaders section goes to the LA Dodgers blog. Hopefully you can change it, and thanks for the recognition.
http://theburghblues.mlblogs.com/

Hey guys, I have the embed image up on my blog’s header if anyone wants to see it.
Kylie — http://kylie.mlblogs.com

See announcement at the top for instructions on getting the MLBlogs Top 100 badge.

If you are on the list, please also go out of your way to welcome others to the MLBlogs community. Leaving your URL in their comments not only brings you new followers, but it also elevates them throughout the community.

I guess everyone can see now that followings come not from what we do with the promotional panel on the http://www.mlblogs.com homepage, but (a) how good your blog is and (b) how much you participate in the community by commenting on others’ blogs.

Also, here’s another announcement:

Always feel free to excerpt about 15-18 words from your MLBlog in a comment right here. We maintain that spot on the lower left of the http://www.mlb.com homepage just for you, and I am going to tell the folks who choose those blurbs to always check this comment space as a priority for consideration there. They are also instructed to spread the wealth among many MLBloggers in that space. It’s another way we link every day from the world’s biggest baseball site to you guys; no other blogging community comes remotely close in that capability.

I would also like to know about that header.
http://hardballblog.mlblogs.com/

So when will the code for the header be released?

Wow,

I have to first thank all of you for reading my ramblings and my personal opinions on my hometown team. Secondly I have to thank the Tampa Bay Rays for giving me, and baseball a “magical season of baseball”. It was truly an honor to write about them in 2008.

Last thank you has to go to everyone, Mark included who might have mentioned my name, whispered my storylines, oe rooted for the underdog this year. Number 23 is a huge surprise to me since I have only written on here since August. I left ,y personal website to devote my time and energy to the faithful fans of the MLB, and you have rewarded me 100 times over with your comments and views.

AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!! … #14

It’s a great honor to be ranked #14 on the “Top 100″ Fan MLBlogs List of 2008 … This past year has been fun, blogging in this great mlb.com community !!! … Thanks to all who have visited my mlblog — I truly appreciate all your support !!! … Now, for my much anticipated “dedication” … Well, I considered a few different dedications that I could make, and finally decided that any time an honor can be given to Babe Ruth, then, that honor should be proudly presented to the “Babe” !!! … So, I dedicate my #14 ranking on the 2008 list, to “Baseball’s Greatest Player Ever”, Babe Ruth, who is tied for 14th place [with Ed Reulbach and Will White] on the all-time lowest ERA leaders list, with a lifetime ERA of 2.28 … The Babe, of course, was one of the greatest pitchers of all-time, with a 94-46 lifetime won-loss record, to go along with his 2.28 ERA !!! … Excellent numbers, that truly enhances Ruth’s great all-time hitting stats: .342 BA; 714 HR’s; 2,873 Hits; 2,217 RBI’s; .474 OB%; .690 Slug%; etc … View Babe Ruth’s stats, click on: http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/ruthba01.shtml … Congratulations and Best Wishes to all “Fan” and “Pro” mlblogs on the 2008 Leaders Lists !!! … Jimmy [27NYY]

I’m stunned and humbled to find that FutureAngels.com is the #4 blog, right up there with the New York fanatics.

I didn’t expect to make this list since I joined in late October, but congrats to everyone who did make it!
I’ll be aiming for the top 50 in 09 though. =)

Wow, glad I made it into the top 50. I usually made the top 30 for most of the season. Did I drop because I changed my blog name a few times? From Rock Pile Rant…Colorado Rockies, then to Rockpile Rant…Postseason, then to just the Rockpile Rant. I would love to see the total of all three. Is that possible?? Thanks…Mark…D

Wow, dropped from 15 to 49. I am not going in the right direction. Remember to stop by and I’ll return the favor!
