That was close

All of a sudden we can’t stop talking about no-hitters. Anibal Sanchez was here at MLB.com in a chat this afternoon, and then Freddy Garcia and Ben Sheets took the mound and carried perfect games for a while, Sheets losing his no-hitter first and then Garcia losing his to an Adam Kennedy single with only one out to go in the eighth. Far more important is the fact that the White Sox were able to gain ground while the Twins saw Francisco Liriano leave his return game early with elbow discomfort. It’s getting more and more interesting, and looking forward to everyone’s blogs.

Memo to the Atlanta Braves: That was an incredible run. Tom Glavine said it best: Kids went through entire educations from kindergarten to high school graduation without seeing any team other than the Braves win their division. It was a thing of beauty while it lasted, and hats off to Smoltzie and Bobby Cox and all who did it year after year.
