Just saw this press release and here’s something to watch tonight:

Chad, great point. I wrote a story on the Brewers’ homepage recalling Tony Sr.’s debut 24 years ago. Didn’t realize it was Drew’s debut Saturday as well. What a game. It also brings to mind another Drew debut. I was at Mark McGwire’s 62nd-homer game with my oldest son, a game I’ll never forget. And I also remember that J.D. Drew was making his MLB debut for the Cardinals that night at Busch Stadium…his agent Scott Boras was sitting right in front of me by the Cards’ dugout. My stayed in the seat, while I was patrolling the left-field aisleways a la The Baseball Collector, in hopes of catching No. 62. Of course, it was a liner out of reach that the Cards employee grabbed.
Stephen Drew also played that game for his debut

I’m very excited to see what the kid’s got. I missed his at-bat last night as I thought I was DVR’ing the game, but apparently other things had priority. That’ll happen.
Here’s to making the most of an opportunity.
What I wonder, and I haven’t heard anything, but this was just scrolling through my brain….
Might we be on the verge of trading an outfielder so we want to see if Gwynn can contribute to the team? Otherwise, why not call up an infielder to spell those guys? We’ve already got Hart to handle the OF.
I’m not sayin’…I’m just sayin’…

Tony Gwynn is my favorite non-National(Expo) of all time. Greatest hitter I’ve ever seen. Period. Thanks for the heads-up. Let’s see what he taught the kid…
