Trackbacks

Since the subject has been raised a couple of times today, here is a reminder to MLBloggers about Trackbacks. Don’t activate them on your posts. Six Apart hosts our blogs and provides the customized Typepad software, and at some point hopefully soon there will be a mass-update to MLBlogs. That will include the banishment forever of the "Accept Trackbacks" box right under your text field, which might have been a good idea to someone on the chalkboard but have no redeeming social value whatsoever. They typically return really bad spam that you don’t want young eyes to see. If you activated them and want to remove them from view on your posts, that’s simple enough — just go to Edit Posts and deactivate the Trackback on any individual posts. They still will be distastefully visible within your blog software for your eyes only, and then it’s up to you whether you want to delete them, usually a screen at a time. The best advice is to avoid them like the plague, and one day soon they will be magically unavailable on your Typepad software. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Before the Spain/Tunisia match, I’d just like to thank all of you readers for helping me reach my 1,000th hit, in the last 12 days of this new blog, which I know may be boring, or uninteresting to a lot of you guys.
Football is my other sports passion, so as this is the greatest tournament on Earth, (over 5 billion people estimated to watch the tournament at some stage), I thought I would share my ramblings with you.

Feel free to comment. Thanks to John, and Charles, my main commenters. Feels like I’m not wasting my time.
