Spheroid: ‘Stros Bro
The Houston Astros are trying to take the next logical step after making it to their first World Series last October, and one of the people here chronicling that mission is Thomas over at ‘Stros Bro. Take a look at his MLBlog, and follow the link on his About page to see why he actually has been known to watch the Tigers on occasion. Here are nine scoops of Blue Bell ice cream (it’s a Texas thing!) for today’s featured Spheroid:
1. Why do you blog?
I wasn’t originally going to start a blog, but being there wasn’t an active Astros blog at the time, I figured someone needed to step up.. I mean they are the defending National League champions.
2. What was your favorite post?
Can’t say I have a favorite post of my own . . . maybe it’s just because I’m modest.
3. What was your strangest blogging experience you’ve ever had?
Hmm . . . honestly have no idea. Can’t say there’s been anything "strange."
4. Favorite blogs, including at least one MLBlog:
Red Sox Chick — not really a Red Sox fan, but she’s interesting and active. I think that’s why I originally started reading her is because she was really active. Haren’s Heat / Getting it Wright — it’s awesome that these two actually come here and blog. Really shows they care about the fans and makes me (an Astros fan) feel inclined to watch A’s and Met’s game just basically out of respect to them. There are more . . . but I’m sure you don’t have all day.
5. What would you be doing if you weren’t blogging?
Working / grin
6. Where do you think the blogosphere is going?
7. Favorite team and why?
Houston Astros! They’re my hometown team. Having Biggio and Bagwell around for so long just makes you love the team. Players seem to stick around longer with the Astros than a lot of teams which speaks good for the franchise. (Biggio was just hit by a pitch as I’m writing this — his first, I mean, 275th time that’s ever happened.) The Astros basically only employ respectable people. If you have character flaws, the Astros will get rid of you. I just really love the team. I seem to get attached to the players and get upset when they leave/get released/traded.
8. What is the one thing people don’t know about you?
I’m Batman. Just keep this as our little secret! I’m also pretty much a wuss . . . I’ve cried during movies, Astros games, episodes of "Friends," etc. Dunno why, just happens.
9. Happiness is . . .
Hearing my son laugh, making my wife smile, watching the Astros . . . life.
